Dai Style Xing Yi (4/9): Coiling Sword with Demo 2VCDs
[KF683-4]
US$16.69

[KF683-4]

A very thin half length straight knife. This is, as the full name suggests, essentially a piercing dagger. About nine inches long. Actually a pretty interesting set. Though we much appreciate short weapons we want to take a minute to explain that people often ask about them, thinking they are "more practical." Chinese martial arts has a very different position from, say, Okinawa arts. They believe that short weapons are great and all that but hardly need to be taught because, being short enough, they are simply extensions of normal movement. Thus a Xin Yi practitioner should be able to immediately adapt any short weapon. Of course this is true but it's awfully interesting to see the formal interpretation and also to possibly pick up some special movements ancient masters though germane to this weapon.

Xinyiquan (Heart & Mind Boxing) is said to have been created by General Yue Fei, who was a national hero in China. Legend has it, that Ji Longfeng found a manual written by Yue Fei, and with Ji's prior spearfighting expertise, expanded the style of xinyi.Ji passed the art onto Ma Xueli, who in turn taught it to Moslem people in Henan province. From Ji, the art also spread to Dai Family in Shanxi. Dai Family, and the Henan Brach continue to use the name Xinyi. Li Ruo Neng also known as the "Old Farmer Li" was one of the few disciples accepted by Master Dai Ku. Old Farmer Li was the creator of Xingyi Quan. At the time when Farmer Li was accepted by Master Dai Kui, he was already famous in China for his superior fighting skills in other systems. After learning with Master Dai Kui, Farmer Li refined the old Dai style system and created the new system and named it Xingyiquan. Xinyi and Xingyi are similarly based on the Chinese theory of the five elements. Each element of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water repesent a different energy, angle and strategy applied in fighting and health.

Although the instruction in this video is given in Chinese Mandarin and NO English subtitles provided. That is not a major problem as the teachers are of the highest caliber and the demonstrations are clear. Handworks and Footworks are clearly demonstrated with master’s well structured instructions. Each of the important movements are given repeatedly with slow motion camera slots. For people who DOES NOT speak Chinese, it is also a beneficial Kung Fu reference.

Note: As stated above, English subtitle is NOT included in this video. If you think language will be a problem for you, we would not recommend video. Should you have any question, please don’t hesitate to contact us. NO refund or exchange allowed because of this reason.
